Yes - but will require a few rules in your SQL queries or a program to take all the data and output whether place or unplaced.

You need to look at whether or not the race is a handicap and the number of runners.

Then you can apply the place rules that British bookmakers use:

1.  1 - 4 runners inclusive, win only, there are no other places

2.  5 - 7 runners inclusive, first 2 to place.

3.  8 - 15 runners inclusive, first 3 to place

4.  16 runners + and non handicap, first 3 to place.

5.  16 runners + and handicap, first 4 to place.
